Bryan Thomas Ranney
Bryan was raised by a family of musicians in St. Louis. This is something like being raised by wolves, but a little less messy. After a very brief career as a gangster rapper, (BMurph! Holla!) Bryan began writing and performing acoustic rock 'n roll songs. His writing style was largely influenced by singer/songwriters of the 70s and alternative rockers of the 90s. Bryan's love of bluegrass and alt. country helped him bond with local performing songwriter Pierce Crask, with whom he plays mandolin at least once a week. Bryan enjoys long walks on the beach, tight leather pants, and the color blue.
Pierce Crask and the
Ranney Mountain Boys
PC and the RMBs have been tearing it up around town, playing a unique blend of bluegrass, blues, and rock. Their members include:
Pierce Crask, a guitarist, harmonicaist, and singerist, who is most well known for fronting the critically acclaimed, five piece rock 'n roll band, The Falling Martins.
Stephen Ranney, plays the stand up bass with grace and funk, often straying from the traditional bluegrass root-fifth-root-fifth, for jazzier progressions beyond either Pierce or Bryan's comprehension. Stephen also plays with the very talented Matt Rowland Trio.
Bryan Thomas Ranney, plays the mandolin and sings backing vocals. He pretends Pierce's jokes aren't funny, despite their obvious hilarity, and squeals like a little girl whenever Stephen rips a phat solo.
The
Bryan Thomas
Ranney Band
The BTR Band is a rock 'n roll trio of guitar, bass, and drums. Their repertoire includes jukebox classics of the likes of Paul Simon, The Allman Brothers Band, The Eagles, and Johnny Cash. More modern material includes songs by Cake, Death Cab for Cutie, Sublime, and Counting Crows. These songs are complimented by covers by some lesser known artists and of course, originals written by Bryan.
